When you run a startup you don’t have enough time to carefully plan everything. Even when you think you have it, you don’t. You ought to make things not write down documents. In the same time though you must have (must!) vague plan b, c and d, or you will be doomed. You think your “plan a” is safe option? It must work? Well, what if it won’t work? Remember. In most cases probability of the worst events is underestimated. Unfortunately underestimation doesn’t change reality. Startups ain’t easy. Plan for the worst.
“Data paints only half of the picture: what people are doing. You still need a qualitative picture to understand why people do things. Get both perspectives and you’re well positioned to experiment and try new things.”—Stephen P. Anderson, Seductive Interaction Design
The more facebook talks about developers driven organization, the more bugs are visible in the service. I thought after Google Wave, Google Buzz etc. kingdoms of developers have been defeated. They still think they are strong.
